In an update issued on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) confirmed that the aircraft, carrying 50 passengers, had been safely recovered.

“Following our earlier statement regarding the aircraft incident at JKIA, we wish to provide an update. The aircraft that veered off Taxiway Echo has been safely recovered. The taxiway has since been reopened, and airport operations remain normal,” KAA said in a statement.

“We thank all stakeholders for their cooperation and reaffirm our commitment to safety, security, and efficiency.”

This comes hours after KAA confirmed that a domestic flight from Elwak Airstrip in Mandera veered off Taxiway Echo shortly after landing at JKIA.

All passengers and crew on board were safely accounted for, KAA said in a statement on Monday, December 29, 2025. No injuries have been reported.

Airport emergency response teams were immediately activated in line with established procedures. The teams responded quickly to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff. KAA said airport operations have continued as normal throughout the incident.

“The Authority is working closely with relevant aviation agencies to remove the aircraft safely and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement read in part.

KAA reassured the public that the safety, security, and efficiency of airport operations remain its top priority.

KAA did not report the cause of the incident, saying the investigation is ongoing.

Passengers affected by the incident were assisted by airport staff, who ensured that everyone remained safe.

“Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) wishes to inform the public of an aircraft incident that occurred this afternoon at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA),” the press release read.
