The National Police Service has announced the commencement of its 2025 nationwide recruitment exercise for Police Constables, inviting qualified Kenyans to join the service.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Inspector General Douglas Kanja Kirocho said that the recruitment will take place countrywide on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.
The recruitment exercise comes after a court battle between NPS and the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), where the latter was found to be the rightful body to conduct the exercise.
NPSC had earlier scheduled the recruitment exercise to take place from October 3 to October 9, 2025.
However, the Employment and Labour Relations Court, on October 2, issued a temporary order halting the recruitment of the 10,000 police officers.
On October 30, 2025, the High Court declared the NPSC advertisement unconstitutional, ruling that the recruitment mandate lies with the National Police Service (NPS).

In order to be considered for the role, applicants must be 18 to 28 years of age and be registered Kenyan citizens. They must also be in the possession of a valid Kenya National Identity Card and a minimum D+ grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Having no criminal record or pending criminal charges is a must, and candidates have to meet the minimum physical requirements stipulated by the NPS. Males must be at least 1.7 meters tall (5ft 8in) while females, on the other hand, have to be at least 1.6 meters tall (5ft 3in).
Applicants must be physically and mentally fit, and the female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and during the entire training period.
NPS also encouraged National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet the entry requirements to apply, noting that preference will be given to those with a minimum rating of ‘Good’ in conduct.
The IG issued a stern warning against bribery and corruption, stressing that the recruitment exercise is free and open to all eligible and qualified candidates.
