Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has declared his 2027 presidential bid, joining the ever-growing list of aspirants who have already announced their bids for the top seat.
In a statement released on Monday morning, the youthful lawmaker stated that the decision had been arrived at following wide consultations and considerations from the public.
"Fellow Kenyans, after deep reflection, wide consultations, and careful consideration of the state of our nation, I, Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the Member of Parliament for Mumias East Constituency, hereby declare my intention to vie for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the 2027 General Election," he declared.
According to the MP, he had been motivated to vie for the seat due to a "profound desire to offer bold, transformative leadership that will reposition our great nation for industrial growth, economic empowerment, and social justice."
Among the agenda items, Salasya wanted to run was to end labour and talent exports and instead end employment.
He stated his unwavering belief that Kenya has the capability of manufacturing, innovating, and industrialising to create sustainable jobs and unlock the full potential for its people.
To achieve his dream for Kenyans, he declared that he would be fronting a new political party, which will be announced later in the year.
"This movement will embody the dreams and aspirations of a new Kenya: a Kenya where opportunity is not a privilege for the few but for all of us," Salasya stated.

"I invite all Kenyans — especially the youth, the women, the workers, the entrepreneurs, and the dreamers — to join me on this journey toward a new dawn for our beloved country. Together, we can and we shall build a prosperous, inclusive, and united Kenya."
Salasya's bid comes on the heels of several other presidential bids, including the entire opposition movement, where several members, including Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, Rigathi Gachagua and Fred Matiang'i, have announced intentions to bid.
In a Weru TV interview on Sunday night, Gachagua declared that all the members, including him, would be running until the last point when one would be decided to be the flagbearer.
Others who have declared intentions to vie for the top seat in 2027 are Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah and former Chief Justice David Maraga.
