Interior Cabinet secretary, professor Kindiki Kithure has urged communities in Lamu County should coexist in peace and harmony.
The CS noted that they all have a right to own property, live, and do business here and any grievances should be resolved peacefully.
"Any historical grievances, including land disputes, should be resolved in a participatory and consultative manner," Kindiki stated
"Any political, religious, or community leader inciting violence and destruction of property, pretending to be fighting for resolution of historical grievances, will be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law, " he revealed.
Kindiki further noted that the Lamu Port is a national treasure and it will benefit the people of Lamu County.
"The Government will ensure that residents of Lamu County enjoy proceeds from the port, including employment opportunities, education, health, and infrastructure development, " said the CS.
He also revealed that the government has declared war on the sale, use and abuse of narcotic drugs, illicit alcohol and other psychotropic substances.
