KICD Issues Alarm Over Fake Grade 10 Curriculum Designs
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has raised the alarm over a surge of counterfeit Grade 10 curriculum designs being sold to unsuspecting members of the public, warning that the fake materials are neither approved nor produced by the State agency.
In a stern alert issued on Tuesday, KICD CEO Prof. Charles Ong’ondo cautioned education stakeholders, school heads, teachers and parents against falling prey to the fraudsters selling the said fake designs.
“These individuals are falsely claiming that the materials they sell are produced and published by the Institute. This is false and unacceptable. KICD has not printed or released any Grade 10 Curriculum Designs for sale,” stated Prof. Ong’ondo.
He noted that the counterfeit documents currently circulating mimic the design and branding of previous official publications, even bearing the KICD logo, in an attempt to appear legitimate.

The KICD boss however insisted that the only lawful source for curriculum designs and other approved teaching materials remains the institute’s bookshop at its Nairobi headquarters.
“It is unlawful to purchase or distribute fake, unapproved, and poor-quality materials purported to be curriculum designs for teaching and learning,” Prof. Ong’ondo said, noting that such actions breach the KICD Act No. 4 of 2013.
The Act designates KICD as the sole government agency mandated to evaluate, vet and approve curriculum support materials for Basic and Tertiary Education and Training.
He hence urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with unauthorised traders, saying the fake publications could mislead teachers and disrupt learning.
Prof. Ong’ondo underscored the gravity of the matter, warning that offenders will not be spared: “Anyone found culpable will face the full force of the law.”
“KICD advises Heads of Institutions, teachers, parents, and the general public not to be deceived into purchasing such substandard and irrelevant materials from unscrupulous traders,” he said.
