Kenya Kwanza Alliance's nominated Member of Parliament, Denar Joseph Hamisi, has died at the age of 56.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang'ula, broke the news through an official notification on Saturday morning.
Hamisi was nominated to the National Assembly under the Amani National Congress (ANC) party following the 2022 General Election.
''It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify the House and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Nominated Member, the late Hon Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP, who passed on today, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at about 7am,'' Wetang'ula announced.
Adding that, "On behalf of all Members and staff of the National Assembly, and on my own behalf, I extend heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Hon Denar, and to all who experienced his humility and unwavering dedication to serving the nation and community."
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who previously led the ANC party, mourned the late MP, describing him as a principled and dependable leader whose integrity and loyalty stood out in Kenya’s political landscape.
He noted that Denar’s commitment to his beliefs and his ability to rally others around shared ideals earned him admiration across parties.

In Parliament, he served on the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture, as well as the Select Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities, where he was praised for his diligence and commitment.
Hamisi was born in 1969 in Kinango, Kwale County, and attended Mombasa Baptist High School from 1984 to 1989, where he took his Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) and Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) Examinations.
He later pursued further studies at various institutions, including United States International University (USIU) for a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (2000) and Master's in International Business Administration (MIBA) (2002); and the University of Nairobi for a Bachelor of Laws Degree (2006).
Before joining Parliament, Denar worked in both the private and public sectors. In public service, he served as Director of the Coast Development Authority between 2007 to 2010, Commissioner at the defunct Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) from 2007 to 2008, and later transitioned to the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), where he served as a director between 2009 to 2012.
Additionally, he also served as the Director of the Kenya National Accreditation Services (2011–2012), and as a Council Member at the University of Nairobi (2013–2018) and Moi University (2021–2022).
Meanwhile, Speaker Wetang’ula has appointed a team of MPs to liaise with the family and coordinate the lawmaker’s funeral arrangements. The team will be led by Kilifi North MP and Deputy Leader of the Majority Party, Owen Baya.
