Why P-Square Split? Mr P Points Finger During Explosive Interview

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has opened up about his much-publicised fallout with his twin brother, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy.

According to Mr P, the feud between him and his twin—one that led to the eventual split of their music group P-Square—was, to some extent, intensified by their fans.

P-Square, the acclaimed musical duo, had a widely publicised disagreement, further escalated by Peter’s alleged involvement in Paul’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the subsequent fallout.\

Speaking at a recent appearance during the AY Live Show, Peter attributed the group’s breakup to public comparisons and pressure from fans.

“The fans are the reason P-Square is no longer together. Two brothers are doing the same thing, but people start saying one is better, the other should lead, and that’s how disrespect begins,” he said.

Tensions rose further when Peter called his twin a liar over claims that Paul was responsible for writing most of their songs.

In an earlier interview, Paul Okoye had claimed he wrote the majority of the duo’s songs, while also revealing that his arrest by the EFCC had been orchestrated by his brother.

P-Square initially split in 2017 after years of internal disagreements, public disputes over management, finances, and creative direction.

Their elder brother Jude Okoye, who played a major role in managing their PClassic Label, was also caught in the fallout.

During their time together as P-Square, the group enjoyed immense commercial success, selling out shows across Africa and becoming one of the continent’s most iconic musical acts.

In early February, Paul publicly blamed Peter for the legal troubles involving their brother Jude.

Speaking to the press after Jude’s bail hearing, Paul claimed his twin brother was behind the ongoing issues.

“The way things are being presented, it looks like Jude is a fraudster, but let’s call a spade a spade. Peter is the one dragging Jude into this. Peter is doing this, putting him in prison, and I’m here to get him out. I won’t deny Peter is my brother, but that has nothing to do with this. If they say Jude is guilty, and Paul is too, so be it,” he stated.
