Revealed: Nyashinski vs Zari, A breakdown of their lucrative Samsung endorsement deals

When Zari Hassan touched down at O.R Tambo International Airport after a three-day soiree in Nairobi, her bank account received a staggering boost of at least Sh2.5 million.

A substantial Sh1.7 million from Fine Urban-Real Estate, Construction and Interiors for her service in marketing mansions, coupled with an additional Sh800,000 wired by XS Millionaire night club for her appearance, made for a lucrative trip to Kenya.

Her visit in June 2022 came on the heels of the captivating Netflix reality show “Young, Famous and African,” where Zari found herself at the heart of a suspenseful ending, leaving the masses still recovering from the show’s thrill.

Fast forward to Tuesday, January 16, and The Boss Lady, as she’s self-christened, returned to Nairobi, this time with less fanfare but with her trademark diva mentality intact. Despite the diminished hoopla, her presence in the city was no less impactful.

For Zari, business and pleasure have always been intertwined, and this visit was no exception. Scheduled for a 3 pm interview at the five-star hotel she checked into, Zari arrived fashionably late at 5 pm, seemingly unapologetic for her tardiness.

In a recent development, Zari Hassan, the South African-based Ugandan socialite, and entrepreneur has been unveiled as Samsung Electronics East Africa (SEEA) Icon Influencer, representing Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The announcement came on Thursday, January 18, solidifying her status as a major influencer with 11.9 million Instagram followers and 2.1 million on TikTok.

The Statesman has learned that Zari inked an exclusive 18-month deal with the South Korean electronics giant.

As the brand ambassador, her responsibilities include promoting brand awareness, fostering a positive brand image, and engaging with the target audience to enhance Samsung’s overall perception and visibility within the SEEA markets, positioning the brand as a luxury choice.

According to a reliable source, the 43-year-old socialite stands to make up to Sh14.4 million for her exclusivity in associating herself solely with Samsung over the contract period.

The deal structure suggests an upfront payment of Sh800,000 with a monthly payment subject to her influencing performance.

The source revealed, “Upon signing the deal, Zari will receive Sh800,000 upfront, and she will be paid a similar amount every month, contingent on her work output. Regular reviews of her performance, pegged on a content calendar, will determine subsequent payments. For a start, she has already been wired Sh800,000.”

In a comparative analysis of Nyashinski and Zari’s lucrative Samsung endorsement deals, here are all the details.

When Nyashinski assumed the role of Samsung Kenya’s brand ambassador in 2020, he signed a two-year exclusivity deal that earned him Sh6 million. During this period, Nyashinski was strictly prohibited from associating with any electronic brand other than Samsung.

Contrastingly, Zari Hassan, the South African-based Ugandan socialite, and entrepreneur, recently entered into an exclusive 18-month partnership with Samsung Electronics East Africa (SEEA).

As the Icon Influencer representing Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, and Rwanda, Zari’s responsibilities include promoting brand awareness, fostering a positive brand image, and engaging with the target audience to enhance Samsung’s overall perception and visibility within the SEEA markets, positioning the brand as a luxury choice.

Under this deal, Zari is poised to make up to Sh14.4 million, receiving an upfront payment of Sh800,000.

Subsequent monthly payments are contingent on her influencing performance, subject to regular reviews based on a content calendar.

The source providing these details told Nairobi News, “When Nyash (Nyashinski) was Samsung’s brand ambassador, he was paid Sh6 million for a two-year exclusivity deal. He was not allowed to endorse any electronic brand other than Samsung during the two years. What that means is that he was supposed to participate in all Samsung activations, make appearances at Samsung’s events, and produce regular content about the brand. When he partnered with Tecno, he was paid Sh2 million on a six-month exclusivity deal.”

It’s important to note that The Statesman couldn’t independently verify these details due to a non-disclosure agreement surrounding the transactions.
