Nadia Mukami reveals she has never received MCSK royalties since 2017

Kenyan Pop music artist Nadia Mukami has come forward to accuse the institution overseeing copyright for artistic works in the country, MCSK, of not paying her royalties since 2017.

Nadia spoke out on social media shortly after MCSK, under the leadership of Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, failed to provide a clear account of the whereabouts of the 56 million collected from artists' works in 2023.

Expressing her disappointment, Mukami stated that since officially registering as an MCSK member in 2017 as a new artist, it is perplexing that she has not received even a single shilling, despite her artistic works gaining popularity both within and outside the country.

"I have never received any money from MCSK, despite registering as a member in 2017 as a new artist. Why me, MCSK?" Mukami questioned through her Insta story.

Ironically, the artist has never received her royalty payments for her works, which have gained extensive recognition, earning her an AFRIMMA award for the Best Female Artist in East Africa in 2023.

After Ezekiel Mutua and his team at MCSK failed to account for the whereabouts of the 56 million from the earnings of artistic works in 2023, the case has been handed over to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for further investigation.
