Mombasa: Man dies after jumping from 4th floor of guest house

A man who jumped from the fourth floor of a Mombasa guest house has died at the Coast General Referral Hospital.

According to a police report made at Central police station, Abdulrazak Kassim jumped from the Suhufi Palace Hotel in Bondeni along the busy Abdel Nasser road on Monday morning.

Mombasa County Police Commander Stephen Matu has confirmed that Kassim has died of internal injuries in his head and stomach

According to police investigations, his family had booked him a room at the hotel after he became hostile to his family located in Nyali.

"One of our clients aged 23 years a Somali by tribe had jumped out of his room 403 located on the fourth floor of the building through an open window and landed on the first floor balcony," read the report.

The police report further indicated that the hotel management immediately rushed the victim to the Coast General Hospital for medical assistance.

The management has further disclosed that upon gaining access to his room, police officers drawn from the Central police station established that several items among them a television set had been damaged.

"Upon gaining entry into the room, he had destroyed various items among them curtains, lamps and a television set," states the report.

Police are yet to establish the motive. However, investigations are ongoing.
