Murkomen previously served as CS for Transport before the president dissolved almost the entire cabinet sending home 21 CSs and the attorney general.

This is because Gen Z demanded accountability and an end to the wastage of public resources, prompting the President to apologise for the opulence he acknowledged was being showcased by some officials.

In a statement on X, Murkomen thanked the President for the nomination pledging to serve Kenyans diligently.
"Honoured and grateful to have been nominated by H.E. President William Ruto as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports," he said.
"Thank you, Mr. President, for this incredible opportunity to serve our great nation, Kenya. The last two weeks have been moments of deep reflection."
Murkomen further asked for forgiveness from Kenyans who felt offended by his actions when he was the transport CS.
"I would like to unreservedly apologise to every Kenyan who I may have offended through my words, my deeds and my conduct, including my lifestyle, in the last two years of my public service," he said.
Upon successful vetting by the committee in the National Assembly, Murkomen will take over the docket from Ababu Namwamba.
The President nominated Davis Chirchir to head the Ministry of Roads and Transport.
"Subject to my approval by Parliament, I pledge to serve the people of Kenya diligently, with great humility and unwavering accountability. Thank you very much. God bless you and God bless Kenya," he added.
The return of Murkomen to the cabinet sparked excitement and celebrations by sections of residents in Eldoret and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.
Groups of youth and other residents in Eldoret danced and waved placards in support of Murkomen after he was nominated.
The youth in Eldoret led by Lucy Chepkwony said Murkomem was a performer and not tainted and they appreciated Ruto’s trust in him.
“We thank our president for re-appointing Murkomem because we know he is a performer who will do well in the youth docket,” said Chepkwony.
The residents have asked Murkomen to serve in the cabinet with dedication and also prioritize youth affairs.
