Kenyan actor receives nomination for the African Podcast and Voice (APVA) Awards

Kenyan actor and voice-over artist Edward Nyanaro has landed two nominations for Best Documentary Performance and TV Promo (Voiceover) in the African Podcast and Voice (APVA) awards.
In the Best TV Promo category, Nyanaro will battle out against three other nominees Chiedu Norbert Onabu, Agatha Ike- Odeyemi, and Stephanie Nicholas.
While in the Best Documentary category, the Nyanaro will be up against Mohamed Abdelrahman, Stevy Daic, and Moses Mwakisha Mwaruma Ndjala.
“It is thrilling to be nominated for this award as it validates the effort and work I have been putting out in my craft. My hope now is to win,” an excited Nyanaro told Nairobi News.
Nyanaro has been featured in several local commercials as a voiceover artist working with several notable brands.
He has also been cast in several local films including Lies That Bind, Sumu la Penzi, Pray and Prey, Hullabalo, Sue na Jonnie, 18 Hours among others.
Voting of the nominees of the third edition has been ongoing and is set to close this Saturday with the winners to be announced on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
The current ongoing voting process involves the fans and once the window closes the process will proceed to stage two where seasoned judges across the continent in the entertainment space will also score to determine the ultimate winners.
The judges for the APVA Awards 2024 are Heneka Watkis- Porter an entrepreneur and TV host. Angela Machua a project and data management consultant, Jonathan Warncke, the Managing Director of the South African Podcasters Guild, Tony Doe an Audio Content Strategist and Sean Loots a South African radio presenter, podcast producer, and host.
The awards were launched by Afripod, a podcast-hosting platform that helps African podcasters in Africa monetize their content.
According to Afripod, the awards aim at acknowledging, highlighting, and celebrating the achievements of African voice talents.
APVA awards also seek to motivate audio creatives at all levels in their chosen field of endeavor. Provide role models and mentors for budding creatives to follow their achievements and the pursuit of excellence and encourage leadership on the continent.
The theme for this year’s awards is ‘King of The Game,’ which celebrates the resilience, creativity, and leadership of African audio creatives.
“This year, we aim to reflect on our collective journey toward excellence, innovation, and the mastery of our craft, affirming that every voice has the power to shape our world that’s why this year’s theme is ‘King of The Game,’” notes Bidemi Adedire, Founder of APVA.
