Renowned actress Jackie Matubia was among the Kenyan attendees gracing the star-studded premiere of Netflix's beloved romance series 'Bridgerton' in South Africa.
Matubia's bold burgundy ensemble showcased a jumpsuit-like creation adorned with dark red-purplish and blue accents.
It was characterized by a high collar, cape-like back, and voluminous ruffled sleeves, with the outfit exuding an elegant flair with an open neckline.
But the thespian's bold attire didn't mesh with some who criticised her fit, particularly around her bust area.
In response to the scrutiny, Matubia has broken her silence, staunchly defending her sartorial choice as a reflection of evolving fashion trends and contemporary sensibilities.
"My breasts and envy made you open pseudo-accounts. Take some pressure drips because I applied the right pressure the way it is supposed to be done. And when God decides, He decides. For those cheering me on, I am grateful and I love you so much," she expressed.
Echoing Matubia's sentiments, her stylist, Nelly Mulandi, affirmed the meticulous planning and purpose behind every aspect of the outfit, asserting that extensive research was conducted into the stylistic vision for the new season.
"A lot of research went into this look. We did extensive research into the mind of the stylist for the new season," Mulandi stressed.
The dress code for the premiere of the highly anticipated new season of Bridgerton was titled; 'Regency Era Splendor: Into the Spotlight' dress code.
Held in Johannesburg, the event attracted prominent African film luminaries, adding an extra layer of glamour to the occasion.
