Ian Njoroge explains why he beat up a traffic officer

A motorist who assaulted and injured a traffic police officer during a traffic stop in Mirema has intimated the reason behind his startling act.

Identified as Ian Njoroge, the suspect was apprehended at his home in the Jacaranda area of Kayole, Nairobi, on Sunday evening as part of an operation led by the Nairobi area DCI.

Shortly after his arrest, he was put under a brief but harsh interrogation by individuals who are presumably officer.

In a video circulating on the internet,  a handcuffed Njoroge is seen responding to questions floated by two officers. He was first asked to reveal his parents' occupations.

"My father is a teacher at Mavoko Boys Secondary School and my mother is a businesswoman selling lab equipment," said Njoroge.

Their dialogue ensued after as the officer asked "Where did you train" and Njoroge said, "I have not trained."

"Where did you learn to hit an officer?

"I have never hit an officer before. Today was my first time."

Amid their unfriendly dialogue, the officer asked Njoroge where he got the courage to hit a police officer tactfully, a question which prompted him to reveal the reason behind the altercation.

"I was just angry. We were not understanding each other because he wanted a lot of money which I could not get..." the interrogating officer quickly interjected "What are you saying?"

The officer then went ahead to ask Njoroge to utter insults at himself;

"Sema wewe ni wazimu (Say you are a fool)," said the officer.

"Mimi ni wazimu kabisa (I am a fool)."

Said another officer: "Wewe ni ng'ombe (you're a cow)"

The interrogating officer had the last word "Mbwa wewe, unaskia (You are a dog you hear me?"
