Government releases Inua Jamii cash

The government, through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, now says it has released a total sum of Ksh.8.3 billion for payment to beneficiaries of the lnua Jamii programme.
Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore, in a statement released on Friday, said the disbursement of the said funds to the elderly will begin with immediate effect.
According to CS Bore, each beneficiary will receive Ksh.8,000 for March - April and May - June 2023 payment cycles.
She added that the government had further released an additional Ksh.11,298,500 for the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE), which is a complementary programme.
“This is the second tranche that was promised to take place immediately after the recently concluded November-December 2022 and January-February 2023 payment, and will be for 1,042,854 regular lnua Jamii beneficiaries and 5,607 NICHE beneficiaries,” noted the CS.
“The Governme remains committed to ensuring the most vulnerable members in the society are cushioned and their livelihoods improved.”
The various beneficiraires are set to receive their payments according to scheduled announced by the CS as follows; Cooperative Bank, Equity Bank, National Bank and the Kenya Women Microfinance Bank (Friday, July 21), Postbank (Saturday, July 22), and KCB Bank (Monday, July 24).
