Bungoma Queens aim for strong league finish against Ulinzi Starlets

Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League club, Bungoma Queens, are ready to take on Ulinzi Starlets on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in what promises to be an exciting mid-week clash.

Queens’ head coach Robert Machio expressed confidence in his team's readiness and form.

The match will see the Bungoma-based team, placed sixth on the league table with 19 points, face off against the formidable Ulinzi Starlets, who hold third place with 41 points.

Machio highlighted the rigorous preparation his team has undergone during the international break, adding that Queens have effectively enhanced their skills and addressed previous short-comings.

“Our team is in excellent shape,” asserted Machio.

“We’ve made the most of our long break to sharpen our players' abilities, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.”

Machio took a strategic approach to reinforce his playing unit behind the scenes, and emphasised on good preparations and discipline as crucial factors ahead of their mid-week clash.

Looking beyond the immediate match, Machio revealed has his sights are set on a victorious end to the league season.

He believes that the team has rectified previous errors through competing at Inter-College Games held at Matili Polytechnic in Bungoma.

“We aim to finish the league with a win,” he noted.

“The mistakes we had before the break have been addressed, and we are ready to showcase our improvements.”

Meanwhile, the mid-week match is significant for both teams. For Bungoma Queens, it presents an opportunity to climb the rankings, while for Ulinzi Starlets will be looking to consolidate their position on the log.

High-flying Kenya Police Bullets were crowned this season’s FKF Women Premier League champions weeks ago, with a number of fixtures to spare.
