"Eternally grateful to God for his favor" Soipan Tuya says after being nominated as the Ministry of defence CS

President William Ruto, in a surprise reshuffle, has reassigned Soipan Tuya from her previously nominated position as the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry to the powerful Defence Ministry.

The changes were communicated to Parliament on Tuesday afternoon by Speaker Moses Wetangula.

Responding to her new assignment, Tuya expressed deep gratitude and unwavering commitment to her new role.

Taking to her social media account, Tuya wrote:

"Eternally grateful to God for His favor! I thank HE President @WilliamsRuto for nominating me to serve as Cabinet Secretary Defence. Upon confirmation, I will give it my all, in service to the people of Kenya."

Aden Duale, who has been moved from the Defence Ministry to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, also responded positively to the reshuffle.

In his post on X, Duale expressed gratitude to President Ruto and highlighted his commitment to his new role, focusing on sustainable environmental management, combating climate change, and promoting reforestation and conservation efforts.

"I am Grateful to President @WilliamsRuto for reassigning me from the Defence Ministry to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry. I look forward to serving in my new portfolio and ensuring focus is on sustainable environmental management, combating climate change, and promoting reforestation and conservation efforts," reads the post.

He added: "Indeed, 'And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, but you do not know.' - Quran 2:216."

Speaker Wetangula has confirmed that all Cabinet nominees, including those reappointed, will undergo a rigorous vetting process.

"The record that has arrived in this House is what I have read to you. Nobody will become Minister until and unless the President has written to Parliament until Parliament has sat in Committee and vetted and until the Whole House has voted on the report of the vetting Committee," Wetangula stated.
