Eric Omondi set to build bridge after viral video of little girl crossing it

Comedian Eric Omondi has announced that he is fundraising to build a bridge in Kisii after a viral video of a little girl crossing a dangerous bridge on her way to school sparked debate.

In a statement shared via his official Instagram page, the comedian appealed to Kenyans for financial assistance to help rebuild the worn-out bridge into a better structure.

He warned that its only a matter of time before the bridge collapses into a tragedy and explained that the community has so far tried to reconstruct the way over but it's not good enough

"The heartwrenching video of the young girl courageously crossing the bridge of death is from Nyakumbati village in Kisii county. The girl is called Shirleen and the father is called Fred Ogata Mogire. The community has so far tried to reinforce the bridge but it's not good enough.

"The wood is rotten, shaky and unsafe. It's just a matter of time before it collapses into tragedy. We are going to build this bridge today!!! Start sending whatever you can to Shirleen's father 0722115399," he stated.

In the video that sparked mixed reactions last week, little Shirleen is trembling as she carefully tries to cross the bridge over an overflowing river on her way to school.

Quarters led by Eric Omondi expressed their anger and called out politicians over what they termed as negligence.

They particularly pointed out that the area politicians had failed their citizens by putting their lives at risk. Other netizens castigated the creator of the video accusing them of irresponsibility.
