Education Ministry and the Private sector to scale up tree planting sessions in schools

The government through the Ministry of Education has improved its tact by embracing schools and other education sectors in its effort to meet the 15 billion tree planting target.

This according to the experts will incorporate learners, teachers and non-teaching staffs in learning institutions hence increasing the number of trees to be planted across all the 47 counties.

Among those included are learners with Disability which according to Benjamin Njoroge, the Principal at Dagoreti Special School is the best way to go.

“ For instance, the tree planting activity we have seen in our institution today is of great importance, it is unique to our learners as it sharpens their skills, keeps them active and makes them healthy , some trees we planted today are good source of fruits,” Said Njoroge.

Njoroge’s remarks were backed up by Rafael Musyoki, the Sub-county Education director who was the chief guest at the event.

“Today is a very special day to all the stakeholders in the education sector, I thank our partners Furaha and Baraka Farms for availing trees seedlings to us on time, we are hopeful that our activity today will be an eye opener to all learning intuition in all the 47 counties,” he said.

 Musyoki emphasized on the government commitment of making the country green and safeguarding the ecosystem.

Daniel Mwero Kimuyu is the Chief Executive Officer of Baraka and Furaha Farms, he asserts that tree planting and environmental conservation must be part of the Agenda of all Kenyans of good will.

 Mwero who together with the Farms Finance Director Felix Kimani helped several pupils with disability plant trees added that global warming and the biodiversity can only be averted by tree planting and environmental conservations.

“By doing this were upholding the biblical teachings of conserving the environment, we fully support the government efforts of tree planting as it is key in the fight against climate change,” said Mwero.

He said that noting will stop him from changing the country green and vowed to distribute as many seedlings as possible and help the state to achieve its objective of 15billion trees

His Farm has been key in supplying tree seedlings for planting in various parts of the country.
