Bien Aime-Baraza emerges as the most streamed Kenyan artist on Spotify
Former Sauti Sol lead singer Bien Aime-Baraza has dethroned popular rap trio Wakadinali as the most streamed Kenyan artist on global digital music platform Spotify.
This emerged as the music streaming app finally released the much-awaited Spotify Wrapped 2024 list, which compiles data based on activity on the platform over the course of the year.
Wakadinali were the most streamed Kenyan artists in 2023, beating out Sauti Sol, Bien, Bensoul, and Nyashinski who rounded up the top five list.
The tables seemed to have turned this year, however, as Bien emerged as the most billed Kenyan artist on the platform, followed by Wakadinali, and Sauti Sol dropping to third place.
Bien, however, did not stop his dominance there. The self proclaimed ‘Man a bald man’ also had four songs in the top 10 streamed Kenyan tracks list.
American singer Taylor Swift emerged as the top streamed artist globally, followed by The Weekend and Bad Bunny.
Spotify Wrapped 2024 also entailed podcasts, with 3MenArmy’s ‘The 97s Podcast’ topping the streams, Julia Gaitho’s ‘This is Love’ and Abel Mutua’s ‘The Mkurugenzi Podcast’ came second and third respectively.
