While most Kenyans are currently struggling with the tough economic times in the country, their able President, Dr William Samoei Ruto, is walking around the – and globe trotting – with a designer belt worth Sh428,120 around his waist.
Yes, you read that right. President Ruto has lately been seen constantly fidgeting with a new Stefano Ricci alligator skin leather belt with a gold buckle.
According to the official Stefano Ricci website, each one of their belts is handmade using exotic crocodile leather while the inside lining is made of calf skin with matte or shiny finishes.
This belt is ranked as one of the best ‘Made in Italy’ products where the “meticulous craftwork is carried out by SR expert goldsmiths who day by day create refine palladium, fold and pink gold buckles.”
The 38mm width belt is finished off with an anchor snap on buckle.
The matted crocodile leather belt with the trademark ‘SR’ buckle retails for $2800 (Sh428,120) and strictly comes in three colors. One can only attain it upon paying upfront the full amount.
The SR belt was initially issued in 2013, weighing about one kilogram with the galvanized gold buckle weighing about two kilograms. This perhaps explains why the President was constantly fidgeting with his pricey belt as he addressed a congregation on Sunday at the Priesthood Fellowship, Kahawa West, Nairobi County.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans (Proverbs 16:3),” is the verse the Head of State befittingly anchored his speech on .
Very sound advice indeed that all Kenyans could do with.
So, as you commit your plans to the Lord, remember to ask Him to financially sustain you so that you can survive the new and increasing taxes President Ruto and his appointees continue to force on Kenyans while they walk around in over the top expensive accessories including watches, shirts and shoes to their offices to earn the most expensive salaries among politicians in the world.
It’s a particularly tough time to be a Kenyan right now, but our political elite either seem to not know this. Or are they just tone deaf?
