There have been no confirmed cases of Mpox in the country in the last day, according to Kenya's Ministry of Health.
In a statement on Saturday, the Health Ministry stated that 21,350 travelers had been screened the previous day, bringing the total number of screenings to 302,436 since the start of the surveillance.
Although no new suspected cases were found among visitors, during the same time period, the Ministry reported five new suspected cases within the nation.
"Over the same period, five (5) new suspected Mpox cases have been detected. Cumulatively, twenty-nine (29) suspected cases have been identified," the Health Ministry said.
"Of these, twenty-three (23) have tested negative for Mpox, while six (6) cases are pending confirmation from the reference Laboratory."
One of the cases the Ministry of Health is following up on was reported from Vineyard Hospital in Kiambu County, where the patient is currently isolated and receiving treatment.
In the Saturday statement, the Health Ministry cautioned Kenyans against sharing photos of suspected Mpox cases on social media, to prevent the spread of misinformation and to respect patient privacy.
Kenya declared a Mpox outbreak on July 31, 2024, after a case was confirmed in Taveta Sub-County, Taita Taveta County.
The patient has since recovered, according to the MoH, and been discharged from the hospital.
None of the 12 contacts in the confirmed case showed any symptoms during the 21-day surveillance period.
