One suspect linked to the horrifying murder of Mr. Willis Onyango Ayieko, a former Human Resource Manager at Wells Fargo security company has been arrested.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) captured Victor Ouma Okoth on Monday October 28, 2024 at night in Dandora Phase IV, Nairobi.
Investigators believe he funded his stay at a rented hideout in Dandora with proceeds from the crime.
Forensic evidence placed Okoth directly at the crime scene, and he’s currently being held at Muthaiga Police Station, pending arraignment in court.
The arrest was a result of efforts from a joint team of detectives from DCI’s Homicide, CRIB, and Operations units, as they work to uncover other suspects who may be involved.
Mr. Ayieko’s body was found in the Mungowere stream in Yala, Siaya County, on October 23 at 2 p.m., a few days after he went missing.
His last known whereabouts were at a funeral in Siaya on October 18, 2024. The discovery sent shockwaves through the community as his body had been severely mutilated.
Police also found Ayieko’s orange Ford Ranger pickup abandoned near a petrol station in Sabatia, Vihiga County, miles away from the stream where his body was found.
CCTV footage from the station captured two men fleeing after parking the vehicle.
The investigation remains active as detectives pursue crucial leads to capture any accomplices involved in the horrific killing of Mr. Ayieko.
