American based comedian Dave Chappelle set to perform in Kenya

American comedian and actor Dave Chappelle is set to perform in Nairobi this coming Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

The concert will feature performances by the legendary comedian and several talented Kenyan acts.

The show will take place at Louis Leakey Auditorium, as a courtesy call by Punchline Comedy Kenya.

In just two hours of the posting on their Instagram page, the show whose tickets are going  Ksh7,000, the show is already sold out.

The tickets were sold in minutes, proving how famous Chappelle is and the popularity surrounding his performance.

This is Chappelle's first show and as seen on the poster it is said to start at 8 pm Kenyan time.

According to the poster, there is a no-phone policy, something Chapelle is well known for advocating just like many stand-up comedians.

This policy means that attendees will not be permitted to use their mobile phones during the performance.

Regarded as one of the world's top comedians, Chapelle has long advocated for a no-phone policy during his performances.

In December 2023, Chapelle once had an altercation with a fan near the end of his performance, when he noticed a man sitting close to the front row recording him.

He called the man out and reported him to security before scolding the audience. Chappelle explained to the crowd why he doesn't allow recording at his shows and, reportedly, equated a phone pointed at him to

Dave Chapelle’s act of no device doesn’t come as a surprise seeing that comedians hold their live recordings with high regard.
