Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Migos has affirmed that all cheating cases in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will not affect learning institutions where the cases will be detected.
Speaking on Monday during the supervision of examination papers at the Lang'ata Sub-County Headquarters office, Migos said that the Ministry will handle all the cases individually, targeting the found culprits.
He added that it would be immoderate and unfair to students to go after an entire institution for the malpractice of one individual.
"Where we find that there was some interference like it happened in Homa Bay, we will ensure that those involved are going to face the music," he said.
He was referring to the case of ten teachers from Pala Masogo Secondary School in Homa Bay who were on November 6 slapped with a Ksh.2 million bond each and a surety of a similar amount following charges of examination malpractice.
The teachers were apprehended photocopying the 2024 KCSE Chemistry paper.
CS Migos further noted that another team of individuals who were found scamming parents on social media have been apprehended and are set to be arraigned.
He has urged all security agencies deployed in various examination centers to remain vigilant and seal all loopholes that might abet cheating.
